Outgoing President’s Legacy Renders Challenges for Incoming

Afghanistan faces multifarious issues of which illiteracy, socio-economic crisis and security concerns secure the top most positions. The incoming premier has to tackle with numerous disgruntled legacy of outgoing president. After a decade long rule, the government couldn’t avert the escalating graph of prevalent hopelessness. Neither the rule of law, administrative accountability enforced nor elimination of social ills, terrorism and corruption barred. However exercise of shifting responsibilities was worth observing. Sometimes foreigners were accused of evil practices, sometimes international community, while the government remained the icon of achievements. Many cases of favoritism involving financial discrepancies surfaced; Taliban involved in sever human rights violation, were not brought to book seem not government’s priority.

A glance at our deserted national priorities disheartens us of interminable irrational and abrupt priorities which happens to be mostly influential than inspirational. The undertakings executed under the influence of forged circumstances than national priorities yield not, the desired result based on national interest. The incoming premier is left to deal with all the issues broadmindedly.

Basically, Afghanistan is an agricultural country–a non-industrial country. The agricultural production can’t fulfill the domestic requirements, hence unable to earn revenues for the country. Mostly it relies on foreign aids. The meager and conditional foreign aid provided by international donors is not enough to backup our endless needs. Consequently, Afghanistan suffers budget deficits.

Afghanistan is in dire need of socio-political assistance and trained official in all fields of human endeavors. Any country extending selfless services must warmly be received. In that pursuit a cordial relationship must not be developed but tried to be maintained. Afghanistan at present pushed to directionless avenues of battered relation with international community serve not the Afghanistan’s interest.

Despite countless challenges left to the new government to face, financial management will be the biggest problem pleading immediate attention. To provide a sustainable backup to its financial needs, the government relies on loans accompanied with handsome amount of interest. According to finance commission head the total loans amounts 2 billion Afghanis which were received from World Bank (WB) nine times, Asian Development Bank (ADB) 14 times, once from IMF, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) four times and Saudi Arabia Monitory Agency two times. A good amount is earmarked for interest of these loans. The international community lending a helping hand by providing aids to Afghanistan should be relied the most that can be done by establishing better relationships with them.

The misleading objective opinion owned, by outgoing premier deluded him of genuine issues, instead got stuck to unfound motives in seeking the traces of others involvement despite owing hundreds of operational departments under their service. Sticking to state of constant denial, owing the responsibility of mishaps undertaken in one’s realm marks an in-depth degree of incompetence whilst negating any expectancy of betterment.  Consequently the politician shun in delusion try not to revisit the grey areas of governance, consequently improvement turned an intangible target given a rational dictum for intellectual and material achievements has never been a pursuable discourse for our politician. Regretfully the efforts are mostly exercised to earn the credit for else good deeds instead of owing and following a clear stance.

The role of education for joint uplift of a nation is irrefutably central. The collective socio-economic and political advances of a nation are determined by the degree of concentration diverted to improve its literacy graph and the amount of resources allocated to this preliminary societal need. A nation reaches to prominence, turn unbeatable and matchless, only when greater intrepid steps are taken to eliminate illiteracy by declaring the state of educational emergency. The profound significance of education in societal ascend is established and undisputed, contrary of being failed to inspire our politicians.

Education is a versatile tool guaranteeing stability, social cohesion and societal uplift whilst ensuring respect for human rights. Many societal problems get regulated after education stand top most priority. The skinny budget allocated for education ridicules us as a nation and marks deep-rooted state of intellectual bankruptcy. Unless education renders preliminary requisite, success may remain a day dream.

At present, Afghanistan passes through numerous problems, uncertain political circumstance and unstable security condition stand to be the most immediate problems, pleading prior attention. The intensity of suspicion over irreversibility of ongoing situation multiplies with every advancing day, eroding the confidence of both foreigners and locals equally to the minimal degree; consequently huge off-putting impact is inflicted on socio-economic uplift of the country.

Given the future of security agreement of the Kabul-Washington remains undecided and the complete drawdown of the NATO coalition approaches, a grand expectation of future funding and financial support to the Kabul government seems scanty. Additionally, there are many other recommendations the international community anticipates of Kabul government to get done earning their confidence for future funding, amongst which maintenance of human rights stand prior.

The delayed if not denied fate of BSA, is one of the underlying reasons behind the sustenance of status quo, which may not practically serve the interest of Afghanistan. If president Karzai finds, the ratification of BSA will not win socio-economic and political progress for Afghans, he is worth doing the delay tactic. Else, it is unwise pushing the country on the avenues of uncertainty and instability. This will ensure both political stability and security, given the insurgents and non-democratic forces trying to destabilize the system, are kept at bay. Taliban dreaming, to oust Kabul government subsequent to withdrawal of US forces, turn futile whilst afghan national army is well equipped and privileged with greater opportunity of continued training by international forces. After successful transition the incoming government is left to tackle all these prominent issues on priority bases.
