Hazaras; Killed and Cleansed!

Hazaras; Killed and Cleansed!

History documents, the degree of repression accelerated where cowardice apathy prevailed indefinitely. Repression subsided not, continued instead wrenching the elements of peace, tranquility and concord, unless reciprocated iron handedly. The reassurance of peaceful coexistence accredits the lengthened subsistence and stability of the state; the incumbent government of Pakistan is blind to read, the ineffaceable lines of history. A state renders invincible, only when elements of peace and security draws substantial importance – maintenance of law and order secure top priority, in government’s what to do list. Nevertheless, the government stuck to indifference on endless discriminate bloodletting remains a failure, otherwise.

Over the past decade, since the demise of Taliban rule from Afghanistan, the violence multiplied in the land of pure, given the spared militants once engaged in subjugating Afghans, turned their guns at Pakistani unarmed civilians and armed forces alike in the quest to re-Islamize Pakistan, making shariat enforcement, an excuse. Indisputably, the country created in the name of Islam, is deliberately battered by Muslim extremists in the bid to hold peace talks and seek affirmation to legitimacy of their evil practices. The state of myopia unsighted the Islamists, justifying Taliban’s barbarism in accordance with Islamic jurisdiction whilst governments’ flimsy retaliation illegitimate.

The state of apathy reigns as long as the state is held hostage by non-state actors grown if not appraised irreversibly mightier to assassinate, mass massacre any person or group fearing not arrestment despite the crime scenes rendering few meters distant from security checks. The degree of hopelessness deepens finding oneself alone in the fight for survival from deadly beast that undertakes the evil memos of their paid masters to any extent.

The universal fame Quetta earned can’t only be attributed to beautiful sceneries moderate weather condition it bears but also the ceaseless atrocities perpetrated against Hazara ethnic group inhabiting on the aforesaid land over centuries. Every dawn brings mass worries; every dust ends in new wretchedness. The unabated incidents of bloodbath befalling every alternate day, undoubtedly single out, terrorists autonomously reign over the city. Each year of recent thirteen years testifies mass massacre of Hazara students, labors, teachers, vendors and eminent personalities from every walk of life. The preceding year January 10 witnessed twin blasts that claimed lives of over 90 Hazaras. A month later an explosive laden water tanker ripped through a busy market in Hazara town claiming over hundred innocent lives. Despite of having been vulnerable to consecutive brutality, Hazaras constantly resorted to peaceful demonstrations and sit-ins, notwithstanding freezing temperature.

The turn of the year had nothing to do with the miseries of Hazara, provided their persecution continued uninterrupted and unquestioned. The first month of 2014 observed an action replay when a two buses with 103 Hazara pilgrims and labors onboard were en route to Quetta from Taftan, were hit by 100kg explosives laden car in Dirangar village in Mastung, some 45 kilometers west of Quetta, killing 32 and injuring scores.  It was the same venue and same people butchered with even multiplied cruelty, forcing off the bus 29 Hazara labors shooting dead upon recognition by LeJ terrorists in Sep 2011 and the same ennui displayed by government.

Daylight beheading or butchery deems ancient practice after knowing the indescribable tale of ferocious atrocities executed against guiltless Hazaras in the avenue of Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan, whilst government observing indefinite silence. The bereaved families seem not forgetting the grievous incidents that claimed over thirteen hundred lives, some burnt to ashes, some blown into countless pieces with tones of explosives, others gone missing till date.

Till date over 1300 Hazaras are subjected to mass butchery. Thousands have fled the country fearing persecution. The gateway to every life sustaining undertakings is irreversibly closed. The opportunity to undertake businesses, seek education, carry forth social and economical activities are restricted to minimal. The dying hope of repatriation in their own state and fear of unabated persecution coerced many Hazaras seek asylum in western countries. Truly, Australia served the only country that hosted largest number of Hazaras asylum seekers, timely responding to their sufferings. The imposition of stricter laws restraining the settlement of Asylum seekers coincide not with shaky resolve of Pakistani government pursuing the murderers of Hazaras.

Subsequent to Mastung heartrending incident, the bereaved families of victims unknowingly staged sit-in as a reprisal against government apathy, inaction and criminal complicity with LeJ terrorists who are debased and shameless attacking armless men, women and innocent children. The two day long sit-in came to an end after federal interior minister Chawdary Nisar Ali Khan accompanying federal minister of information Khorsheed Shah on an official visit to Quetta, met the Hazara elders, assuring them justice. Seemingly, an unpersuasive targeted operation started against some Bloch nationalist, portrayed as terrorists carrying out terror plots against Hazaras, camouflaging the real culprits of Hazara misery.

Subsequent to former general election, huge expectations were linked to newly installed government in the center and the province, diverting greater attention towards deteriorating law and order in Baluchistan; in particular to Hazara carnage given prime importance. Most of analysts find Baluchistan’s hung parliament unable addressing the manifold problems of insurgency, sectarian violence and corruption as effectively as expected even unless multilaterally supported by every faction contributing in governance and security.

The coalition government comprising Pakhthunkhuwa Milli Awami Party, National Party and PML (N) government installed in the insurgency and sectarian hit province was expected to overturn the security concerns of the province. It was overwhelmingly contemplated, the newly elected Chief Minister of Baluchistan Dr. Malik would issue directives of targeted clean operation against all miscreants and perpetrators of Hazara mass massacre and their proponents advocating bloodshed. Gradually it’s learned, the government in surge for its consolidation might not efficiently deliver, particularly when it comes to massacre of an unfortunate community. However, the recurrence of two tragic incidents murdering three dozens of fatless Hazaras following the new setup installed faded away the hope justice to be served.

Earlier a detailed report of credible human rights organization, Human Rights Watch (HRW) surfaced entailing worsening law and order situation in the Pakistan and criticizing the indifference of government to forestall the security condition. “The militant groups such as the ostensibly banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), a Taliban affiliate, operate with virtual impunity across Pakistan as law enforcement officials either turn a blind eye or appear helpless to prevent attacks,” says Human Rights Watch.

The aforementioned tale unearths the government of Pakistan has been searching for a flimsy than genuine solution to avert worsening security concerns whilst terrorists continued bloodletting. This delayed if not denied tactic multiplied risking precious human lives where Hazaras are already bloodied and cleansed devoid of anyone’s apprehension.
