The Dirty Syrian War!

The Dirty Syrian War!

After the failed experiments of launching attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan, war in Syria is also becoming another failed experiment that is going to add manifolds to the widely sprouting and expanding trend of terrorism and militancy in the region and different parts of the world. In the beginning, the attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan were taken to be too simple; the regimes of Saddam Hussein and Taliban will be ousted and new government will be established which will provide with people a unique chance to lead their lives with democracy and both the countries will show the perfect picture of stability and economic prosperity but it did not turn out to be so simple. Although a number of military experts had already warned about unexpected results and resulting complications of these attacks by America and its allies but they were not given much importance and only the bright side of the picture was considered. In both the countries, the conditions seem to be even worse comparing to the conditions that prevailed before this so-called ‘war on terror’ which can be better labeled as ‘war for terror’ having a look at its frightening results.

Hundreds and thousands of people lost their lives, arm-culture became wide spread, basic infrastructure of both the countries was badly demolished, ethnic and racial groups and divide became more evident or even bloody and most dangerous of all, militancy and uncontrolled murders and killings became a matter of routine. The US and its allies had to lose a few hundred soldiers and some billions or trillions of dollars which doesn't make the slight proportion of the giant US economy.

The war in Syria against the regime of Assad was also taken to be so simple. A rebel group was formed, heavily funded by Western allies and of course, their Asian partners including Saudi Arabia and Turkey and it was supposed that soon Assad’s army will quit resistance and the regime will be toppled down, forming a new government. Saudi Arabia and some other Arab nations participated in it in order to bring an end to the Shia government ruling a Sunni majority. But the world saw that it did not turn out to be so simple. Having a look at the support of Saudi Arab and other Arab nations, Iran sent its reinforcement to assist the Assad’s forces and literally, it became a Shia-Sunni war. Till now, more than hundred thousand people have lost their lives, majority among them of women, children and common civilians, and millions of Syrians have taken refuge in a number of neighboring countries.

In the beginning, it was a sincere war or resistance of people against a regime that had ruled them for many decades and they were really tired of its harsh and cruel dictatorship thus majority of the rebel fighters were from the common public of Syria. They were also joined by a large number of soldiers and officers that left the Syrian army and joined the campaign to free their country of a dictator. It was the reason why, rebels advanced very briskly in the beginning and captured many areas of the country from regime forces but later on, with the arrival of trained militia from Iran, Assad’s forces got stronger and they not only stopped the advancement of rebels but also took back some of the places from them. At the same time, having a look at their efforts being wasted, the radical members of Al-Qaeda and other militant groups were given the entry into the war and then the things went out of the hands of everyone.

Now there a number of groups fighting against Assad’s forces that are related to Al-Qaeda and the ground conditions have become so much complicated and confusing that it becomes difficult to differentiate the good from the bad.

The rebel group that started the resistance and fight against Assad’s forces in the beginning is known as Free Syrian Army which has now gone behind the scenes. Other day, a report was published according to which Al-Qaeda related Jihadist groups were reported to have attacked, beaten and killed the members of Free Syrian Army. An officer and some soldiers of Free Syrian Army could hardly escape to a Turkish checkpoint from the attack of an Al-Qaeda related group. According to them, Al-Qaeda and their allied groups don’t consider them true Jihadists and thus they don’t give them much importance.

Inside Syria, these groups are not united and they have made separate organizations by different names in which each group is supported by a different country. Till present, there are not present any evidences of disagreement and clash between them but having a look at their attitude towards each other, it is feared that soon these groups will be fighting against each other as well. On the other hand, a common Syrian both hates and feels afraid of these barbarous groups who have committed numerous crimes without any discrimination and they are not ready to follow any rule or code of conduct.

After these military groups got strong, the rape of women, murder of civilians and even children and other war crimes have considerably increased and according to the considerate sources, they are working to defame the name of Islam and Jihad. They have also imposed the strict and inflexible Sharia laws in the areas of their influence and hence made the life much difficult for common people. They claim to promulgate Islamic laws in a situation when their members have committed numerous crimes against humanity and international laws and their members are not in sound position to impose any such law on others.

There are also reports that some groups among them are being established and supported by the government of Assad which in fact work to defame them among public and also make them weak from inside. All this has resulted in a strange uncertainty within the rebel lines and helped Assad’s regime grow stronger.

There are also reports that large numbers of people are joining these militants groups on the name of jihad from different parts of the world and even from a number of European countries. These Jihadists can pose danger to their countries when they return after taking part in this undisciplined war. It is very sad to call this jihad as Muslims are fighting on both the sides and it is the dual behavior of Western countries to allow these militants and Jihadists commit war crimes for their own purposes. In fact, all these groups are fighting to serve the objectives of West and having a look at their war crimes and inhuman treatment of civilians, the war can never be termed to be jihad and it is a heinous act of defaming the concept of Jihad, being sponsored by Western countries and assisted by local radical groups.

Whatever may be the end results of this bloodshed, the consequences of this war are going to be very dangerous. Islam and Jihad have greatly been defamed, military groups are getting stronger and one day, they might come out of the control of their sponsors, hundreds and thousands of innocent citizens have been killed and in future, there would be such strong military groups in the region that there would not be need of waging any war. Many countries of the region will be either directly or indirectly affected and the rift between Sunni and Shia will grow wide and bloody. And many of you might have ignored one fact; all those countries that could have posed any threat to Israel have been dragged into this war and will gradually grow weak. The situation is an eye-opener for all those who call these crimes as Jihad and support the war in Syria.
