Dear Editor!
While you walk on roads in Afghan capital will find hundreds of people selling various foods, fruits, dry fruits, vegetables and other edible items – there are mostly not protected from dust and other pollutants. This cause the number of patients to increase by leaps and bounds and the hospitals are getting crowded. As we see in Afghanistan, food usually becomes contaminated from poor sanitation or preparation. Food handlers who do not wash their hands after using the bathroom or have infections themselves often cause contamination. Improperly packaged food stored at the wrong temperature also promotes contamination.
We need to be cleaner. It has been emphasized in our religion that we have to keep ourselves and our environment clean. Cleanliness has been regarded as a part of faith in Islam. I request all food handlers to be fully careful of not making edibles infectious. They have to maintain strict rules in this regard. The government has to make more and more laboratories for quality checks.
