ECC Receives Complaints

KABUL - The Electoral Complaints Commission has received complaints about some of the presidential candidates, according to Nader Mohseni, the ECC secretary.

Mohseni says that a number of presidential candidates have violated some of the election rules since the campaigns began last Sunday. "These violations will be investigated in open session," he announced.

Although, the ECC did not disclose the details of the violations, reports show that some candidates use government resources and vehicles in their campaigns.

President Karzai has signed the approval to appoint 102 provincial commissioners to the electoral complaints commission. The new commissioners will start work after a short training.

Meanwhile, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) has announced that they will cooperate with ECC in case of any serious problems in the provinces.

"We have offices in 34 provinces and we are able to share part of our offices with ECC, except our main office in Kabul," IEC Spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor, said.

The commission had had complaints about its budget in the past, but seems to be back on track for now. (Tolonews)
