WASHINGTON - High Peace Council Chairman Burhanuddin Rabbani on Wednesday held talks with senior State Department officials, including US Special Representatives for Afghanistan and Pakistan James Dobbins.

Describing the talks as part of regularly scheduled meetings in the US, State Department deputy spokesperson Marie Harf said Rabbani had also met Ambassador-at-Large for Women’s Issues Cathy Russell.

"He’s here to discuss a range of issues related to the Afghan-led reconciliation process and the role of women in that process in an Afghan society," Harf told reporters at her daily news conference.

Rabbani will continues to hold meetings in the US over the next few days. (Pajhwok)
