KABUL - Mohammad Karim Khalili, second vice-president, had a farewell meeting on Monday with the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan during which he called China as friend of Afghanistan and expressed pleasure over the friendly ties between the two nations.

He added that the countries possess the potential for expanding their ties in political, economic and cultural fields.
The Chinese ambassador noted that China for years is assisting Afghanistan in reconstruction and this will continue adding that peace and stability is to the interest of regional countries including China as a neighbor of Afghanistan and we support the upcoming presidential elections in Afghanistan.

Khalili at this meeting thanked the Chinese ambassador for his efforts towards further expanding relations of cooperation between the two nations and also called the people and government of Afghanistan as close partner of that country.
Khalili also called bilateral relations to the interest of the nations and stressed that the people and government of Afghanistan is decisive in holding free, just and transparent elections and our people expect their foreign partners to assist Afghanistan in this respect. (BNA)
