KABUL - The Afghans would never allow their country’s return to instability and anarchy, President Hamid Karzai said on Sunday, stressing the need for national reconciliation. In an hour-long telephonic conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry, the president also spoke on the ongoing reconciliation campaign.
A statement from the Presidential Palace quoted Karzai as saying his nation’s genuine desire for peace should not be misused as a tool of promoting outsiders’ nefarious designs.
“The Afghans are willing to offer any sacrifice to thwart sinister conspiracies aimed at weakening their country and pushing it into a new round of chaos,” he stressed.
He explained his compatriots wanted real peace that could end the ongoing war and bring stability, unity and prosperity to Afghanistan. (Pajhwok)
