World Bank  to Fund IT Training

KABUL - Afghan Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) will train 50,000 staff in Information Technology for three years, with funding from the World Bank.

At the graduation ceremony of 150 students who were trained in IT section, the ministry officials said that MCIT is endeavoring to train IT specialists in the country.

The World Bank funds capacity building plans in Afghanistan, in which 50,000 people will be trained in several phases in Information technology section. The graduated students who are the first group of this training’s graduates are going to be introduced to the government and private sector.

“After supplying preliminary services to the people, there is a new policy to go towards electronical governance to bring good quality services for people of Afghanistan,” MCIT Deputy Minister Baryalai Hasam said.

Meanwhile, the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry urged government agencies to provide job opportunities for the graduates.

“On behalf of our ministry, I ask all companies and agencies to hire these specialists of information technology,” The Labour and Social Affairs ministry Deputy Wasel Noor Mohmand said.

The ministry of communication and information technology said that the ministry intends to computerise government agencies to deliver standard services. Therefore, there is a need to train specialists. (Tolo News)
