KABUL - The embassy called on the government to facilitate the visit and help to provide sufficient information to the investors to encourage their endeavor.

"Afghanistan and India together, we need to make some investment promotion and training promotion measures directly with the businesses, from business to business, so that they develop partnerships and they come to Afghanistan," India's ambassador to Afghanistan Shri Gautam Mukhopadhyay said.

"Our main purpose in encouraging this is to help Afghanistan economically, to help it move... to a self-reliant and mutual interdependence, so that Afghanistan is strong economically, can stand on its own feet, is more self-sustaining, and is a normal country," he added.

According to the Indian embassy, the investors are more interested in textiles, mines, health services, and the processing and packaging of agricultural products.

"A lot of business people want to come, and some time ago the CII - Confederation of Indian Industry - delegation was here in Afghanistan to further some of the issues. So this is also a part of the entire process of trying to create a smooth flow for trade and investment between Afghanistan and India," said Samata Murthy, member of Confederation of Indian Industry.

This comes as India declared 456 goods from Afghanistan will be exempt from import tariffs in an effort to increase trade between the two countries. (Tolo News)
