No Agreement with Khalilzad: Noor

No Agreement with Khalilzad: Noor

KABUL - Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor on Sunday rejected rumors that he would be Zalmai Khalilzad’s running mate in the 2014 presidential election.

Speaking at a news conference in the provincial capital, Noor said: "If at all, I jump into the race, I’ll be running for the presidency. I don’t want to be a second VP."

The governor added he could not reach any agreement at a meeting with the former US diplomat some time ago. He would contest the vote if the Afghanistan National Front (ANF) nominated him as a consensus candidate, he explained.

In response to the question whether the party would support Noor, the ANF head, Ahmad Zia Masood replied they were yet to take a decision in this regard. (Pajhwok)
