KABUL - NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan on Wednesday announced they are prepared to assist Afghan police with the investigation of the recent incident in Kabul security commandment.

An Afghan policewomen on Monday shot dead a US military advisor in capital Kabul.

A spokesman for ISAF Lieutenant-Colonel Les Carroll said ISAF is expecting that the investigation will reveal a satisfactory result.

He did not disclose further information regarding ISAF's involvement in probing the incident however he said the investigation will be done by Afghan interior ministry and ISAF will monitor the process.

ISAF will assist Afghan police if needed by the whole investigation process will be done by Afghans, Lieutenant-Colonel Les Carroll said.

In the meantime Afghan interior ministry on Tuesday released its preliminary investigation report regarding the incident and said the assailant police officer was an Iranian woman.

However analysts are saying that the security officials must be queried regarding the incident. The questions that must be queried according to the analysts are any possible involvement of militants or regional spy agencies in the incident.

Atiqullah Amarkhel, an Afghan analyst says, "Generally such incidents are pre-planned. The attack was possibly plotted by individuals or groups or regional spy agencies. The investigation process will reveal who was involved behind the attack."

In a number of cases Afghan security forces have opened fire on their foreign counterparts however this is the first an Afghan woman is committing such an attack. (KP)
