Ministers, Governors, Deputies Accused of Corruption: AG

KABUL - The Attorney General's Office said Tuesday that 62 corruption-related cases are currently under investigation, and those implicated include ministers, provincial governors and deputy ministers.
The charges against these officials include misuse of authority, abuse of public property and contract irregularities.

The AGO didn't specify the officials implicated, but said the corruption case against Finance Minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal was dropped due to a lack of evidence, although they are investigating other cases in the ministry.

"We received 234 corruption-related cases, out of which 24 were closed due to lack of evidence, 148 were sent to the Supreme Court, and 62 are under investigation," said Sayed Alam Ishaqzai, head of the Afghan Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office. (Tolo News)
