Environment Law Forgotten in Afghanistan: Official

KABUL - The law for the environment had been forgotten since its establishment over the last several years in the country, chairman of environment protection, Mustafa Zaher told lawmakers on Sunday.

He blamed the organs concerned, particularly the ministry of public health of remaining negligent over their responsibilities to cooperate with his office to overcome the problem, as he said his office couldn't fight the challenge by its own.

The ministry of public health's assigned staff can't differ between microbe and bacteria, then how can reduced the air pollution, he criticized.

He asked the ministry of public health for providing the people with information about the harms of the air pollution to prevent getting out of home as well as refrain from using vehicles the pollution reached to a warning level, as it would cause heart and respiratory diseases.

The source indicated the Thursdays' recesses the most slightly reduction of pollution only 1 per cent, highly less than what was required.

The chairman for the environment protection had been summoned by the upper house of the Afghan parliament, for a daily increase of pollution; the senators believe mostly stemmed from logging trees and forests and extermination of some rare animals generation. (WNA)
