Afghanistan  Hails Trilateral Meeting with  Pakistan, China

KABUL - The Afghan government on Sunday hailed a trilateral meeting with Pakistan and China which was held recently in Pakistani capital Islamabad, saying the event would further promote peace and stability in the region and will strengthen trilateral friendly exchanges and cooperation.

The meeting, the second of its kind, was held on Thursday Nov. 29. It discussed regional situation with special reference to Afghanistan, efforts for peace and reconciliation and trilateral cooperation in various fields, Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Janan Musazai told a press conference.

"China as a good friend of Afghanistan and Pakistan has an important role in Afghanistan peace process and the recent trilateral meeting would help bringing peace in the region besides enhancing economic development among the three countries," Musazai said.

He welcomed the participants' acceptance of the Afghan delegation offer to host the next meeting in Kabul in future.

The meeting was chaired by Syed Abrar Hussain, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

The Afghan and Chinese delegations were led by Azizuddin Ahmadzada, director general of the First Political Division of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan and Huang Xilian, counselor of the Department of Asian Affair of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, respectively. (KP)
