Taliban Attack will Not  Affect Prisoners Execution

KABUL - Afghan Attorney General officials in response to retaliatory attacks of the Taliban militants group said that such attacks won’t affect their decision regarding the execution of the criminal prisoners in Afghanistan.
This comes as at least 14 prisoners were hanged to death by the Afghan government last week.

Taliban militants group carried out a suicide bomb attack in Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan on Friday to avenge the execution of prisoners.

The group said that the attack was carried out to avenge the death of 4 Taliban prisoners who were executed among the 16 prisoners last week.

In the meantime Afghan attorney general officials said that several other prisoners are waiting for the death penalty.

A spokesman for the Afghan Attorney General Basir Azizi said the cases of the prisoners have been reviewed during the recent years and are currently with the Afghan president Hamid Karzai for his approval.

Afghan president Hamid Karzai recently approved the execution of 16 prisoners accused of kidnappings, rape cases, suicide bomb attacks and attack on Afghan security forces, at least 14 of them were hanged to death last week.

Afghan lawmakers supporting the execution process in Afghanistan said that the Taliban group will continue to their brutal suicide bomb attacks even if the Afghan government does not execute criminal prisoners.
According to reports at least 270 prisoners are awaiting for death penalty in Afghanistan. (KP)
