Government Supports Taliban: Zia Massoud

Government Supports Taliban: Zia Massoud

KABUL - The lack of security in Afghanistan indicates the unspoken support of the government for the Taliban insurgency, the National Front party said Wednesday.

At a press briefing in Kabul, party leader and former vice-president of Afghanistan Ahmad Zia Massoud said the government's actions are paving the way for Taliban to be strong in major villages throughout the country, killing individuals with impunity. "The only reason for this prolonged war in Afghanistan is that some elements inside the government support the Taliban activities," Massoud claimed.

He criticised the lack of action and strategic plan from the government to combat Taliban forces, saying that the government is one of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of foreign forces operations to defeat the insurgents. (Tolo News)
