President Karzai Expresses  Support to NAM

KABUL - Hamid Karzai the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan announced his support to the 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Tehran yesterday.
In the summit titled "Durable in the joint management" and attended by envoys from 120 countries including UN Security General Ban-ki-Moon.

President Karzai who returned yesterday, in his speech while thanking Iran for its warm hospitality said that Afghanistan would continue to support NAM for its struggle to overcome the challenged laying ahead in our globe.

President Karzai added that the emerge of new economic powers has promoted the western powers to share power and enhance cooperation with the emerging economic power which eventually create multi-polar economic in the world, saying in such a circumstances, majority of the NAM members are in a position that can play vital role in ensuring balanced power in international affairs.

President Karzai also added that Afghanistan supports NAM efforts for the improvement of international organizations including IMF, World Bank and UN Security Council by supporting the general assembly of the United Nations.

He added the NAM has the ability to support balanced economy and democratic world order.

President Karzai also described terrorism as a big obstacle on the way to achieve peace in the region, saying defeating terrorism requires regional and international cooperation.

He also noted that inking strategic agreement between Afghanistan and some countries would not affect Afghanistan's commitment towards NAM.

He also said that the people of Afghanistan want to have durable peace, saying the government is ready to talks with those oppositions who renounce violence, servers ties with terrorists and accept the constitution of Afghanistan.

President Karzai also expressed concern over the situation in Palestine and supported the creation of independent Palestine state.

He also expressed sympathy with the people of Syria and calling on warring sides to seek peaceful solution.

The President also wished success for UN special envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi for his mission to find peaceful solution to Syrian crises. (BNA)
