ANSF Ready to Enforce President’s Order: MoD

KABUL - The Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Wednesday said the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) are ready to enforce president's order against Pakistan. Over the past two months Pakistani forces have been firing missiles on the bordering areas of eastern Kunar province, inflicting casualties on the local people, damaging properties and forcing residents to flee from the area.

We condemned any kind of attack on Afghan territory, ministry's spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi told a press conference on Wednesday.

The security personnel are ready to enforce any order of President Hamid Karzai, National Security Council and parliament on the recent missile attacks on Afghan territory by Pakistani soldiers, he said.
As a first step, Afghanistan should resolve the problem through diplomatic channels, he said.

Meanwhile, deputy presidential spokesman, Syamak Harawi, said if diplomatic ways were not successful, they would engage NATO members, as those who signed agreements with Afghanistan are responsible to defend the country.

Afghanistan would take up the issue seriously through the United Nations Security Council, he added.

The defense ministry denied Pakistan's claims that militants crossed Afghan border and killed 13 Pakistani soldiers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The ministry spokesman said Afghans themselves are victims of terrorism and Afghan soil would not be allowed to launch attacks on other nations. (Pajhwok)
