KABUL - President Hamid Karzai has sent to Dr. Mohammad Morsi a message of congratulations on his election as the new President of Egypt. The message reads as follows:
"On behalf of the people of Afghanistan and my own, I would like to congratulate your Excellency and the brotherly Egyptian nation on your election as President of Egypt.

Your victory in the elections clearly demonstrates a firm determination and the confidence of the Egyptian people to your programs.

The people of Afghanistan greatly value and seek to further enhance their bilateral relations based on mutual respect and which have grown stronger in a spirit of Islamic brotherhood."

I am confident that with your Excellency's election, the friendly ties between our two countries would be further strengthened.
