needs to be completeCHICAGO - President Hamid Karzai on Monday said Afghanistan did not want to burden the international community and insisted the transition process should be completed as scheduled in 2014.
Karzai told reporters after holding talks with his US counterpart Barak Obama on Sunday, on the sidelines of the ongoing NATO Summit in Chicago, the meeting had been productive.
He said his government would take full control of the country's security once coalition troops handed over security affairs to Afghan forces.
"The transition process is a very vital issue for Afghanistan it d soon. After that the country will not be a burden on the international community," said the president.

Obama also briefed reporters on his recent visit to Afghanistan and said signing the strategic partnership agreement between Afghanistan and the US was beneficial for both nations.
He stressed the need for the allies to work closely together to preserve the achievements made over the last decade and do more to stabilize Afghanistan.

"There are still many problems along the way but we should work hard to find a solution and I'm confident that we are walking on a positive path," remarked Obama.
He said the alliance would reaffirm its long-term partnership and support for Afghanistan at its 25th summit and the international community would help it during the transition process as well. (Pajhwok)
