Rohrabacher Urges Clinton to Invite ANF to Chicago Summit

WASHINGTON - A key US lawmaker on Friday urged US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to immediately invite Afghan National Front (ANF) to the NATO summit in Chicago, arguing that peace in Afghanistan could not be achieved without its cooperation.
"The National Front must be at the table when the future of their country is being discussed," Congressman Dana Rohrabacher wrote in a letter to Clinton, which was released to the press. There was no immediate reaction from the State Department.
"The overly centralized (President Hamid) Karzai's government cannot endure once American troops and money are withdrawn because it lacks legitimacy.

Karzai stole his last elections. We must bring in legitimate leaders, who represent the majority of Afghans, and let them take their rightful seat at the table and help decide the fate of their own country," he said. The legislator added it was the National Front, formerly known as the Northern Alliance, with assistance from the US, that toppled the Taliban government in 2001.

The chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, he was recently denied entry into Afghanistan by Karzai, who personally reached out to Clinton to express his objections. (Pajhwok)
