ANSF Ready for Taliban Offensive: MoI

Taliban have no concern for human life and dignity

KABUL - The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Monday condemned the Taliban's propaganda to spread fear and mistrust and vowed to defeat militants who continued to rely on rudimentary weapons.
About the rebel spring offensive codenamed Operation Al Farooq, the ministry said Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) were ready to face any challenge from the militant movement.
"The Afghan National Police is stronger now than ever before in our nation's history. We are ready to stand against foreign mercenaries to protect Afghans' lives and property and the country's territorial integrity," a statement from the ministry said.

"We believe in our ability to defeat attacks by the Taliban, who have changed their tactics to mainly suicide bombings and improvised explosive device (IEDs) attacks that kill and maim innocent people every day."
The statement continued: "They seem to have no concern for human life and dignity but only want to attain power for themselves, no matter what the cost is."

It alleged the Taliban and other insurgent groups, under foreign influence, had short and long-term goals to stymie Afghanistan's development and twist religious values to justify their criminal activities and in the process killed thousands of innocent people.

"They threaten to kill all Afghan government employees, including those who cooperate with the elected government in any way and they show no remorse for innocent civilian casualties," added the statement.

The ministry called on all Afghans to help the government defeat the insurgents and other foreign miscreants by reporting suspicious or criminal activities. "Together, we will defeat them and create a society with security, freedom and opportunities for all." (Pajhwok)
