Karzai Meets Pakistani Women MPs

KABUL - President Hamid Karzai on Sunday stressed the need for the creation of a joint group of women parliamentarians from Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
At a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan's lawmakers, the president called for enhanced contacts between women MPs of the two countries.

A statement from the Presidential Palace quoted Karzai as saying the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan faced similar problems. He added frequent exchanges of visits between female MPs would improve their relations.

Afghan MPs, including Shinkai Karokhel, Nahid Farid and Gulalai Noor Safi, also insisted on strengthening and developing relations with Pakistani parliamentarians.
