Secret Talks with Taliban will Not Lead to Peace: Abdullah

KABUL - Leader of the National Coalition, Abdullah Abdullah, on Thursday said that secrets by the Afghan government and the United States with the Taliban will not lead to any peace in Afghanistan.
Mr Abdullah said that secret talks will not be welcomed by the Afghan people and stressed that the Afghan people must not be ignored.

He emphasizes that the peace talks should be held inside Afghanistan, otherwise the desired results will not be achieved.
Dr Abdullah believes that the Afghan government and the United States lack a clear plan to hold talks with the Taliban.

"The Taliban must announce that they are ready to hold peace talks with the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Those who take part in the talks must be clearly defined and it must be clear who and what sides they are representing," Dr Abdullah said.

Mr Abdullah also said that Taliban judges are addressing people's legal problems in many parts of the country and that this shows inefficiency of the government.
"Who must be blamed if people refer to Taliban judges in Quetta or areas under Taliban control to solve their problems?," the Leader of the National Coalition said.

Meanwhile, there are many youths in Afghanistan who are very concerned about possible circumstances of peace talks with the Taliban.
"The Afghan people can never accept a return of the Taliban regime or their strict rules," a resident of Kabul city, Emal Haqyar, said.

It comes as there were speculations previously that the Afghan government would be marginalized in peace talks.
The Afghan government has also showed strong reactions to talks without leadership of Afghans. But it is still unclear if the Taliban will accept the Afghan government as a side of negotiation.
