Karzai Calls on UN to Urgently Aid IDPs

KABUL - Former president Hamid Karzai has called on the United Nations to provide much-needed humanitarian assistance to those displaced by the ongoing conflict in the country.
A statement issued by the former president’s office said that the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the imposed war in the country has caused a large number of people to suffer life and financial losses and have been forced to flee their homes.
Karzai thanked the people who reached out to their displaced compatriots and called on all national businesspeople and especially the United Nations Office in Afghanistan, to help refugees, and displaced people across the country.
The former president also called on the Afghan parties to the conflict to pay close attention to the protection of the lives and property of the Afghan people and to refrain from fighting to save their people from the current painful situation. “Start peace talks seriously and take concrete steps for their success”.
