Afghanistan Covid-19  Recoveries Cross 70,000-Mark

KABUL - At least 1,501 new Covid-19 cases and 77 deaths from the virus have been recorded in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, with the recoveries crossing 70,000 mark, the Ministry of Public Health said on Tuesday.
The ministry said 4,799 tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 1,501 people, taking Afghanistan’s overall tally to 118,659.
Kabul recorded the highest number of cases (173) followed by eastern Nangarhar province where the virus was detected in 142 people.
At least 133 new cases were found in Ghazni, 93 in Kandahar, 92 in Herat, 84 in Ghor, 76 each in Badakhshan and Jawzjan, 62 in Takhar, 61 in Paktia, 58 in MaidanWardak, 52 in Balkh, 51 in Daikundi, 45 in Kunduz, 40 in Zabul, 37 in Helmand, 35 in Laghman, 34 in Faryab, 33 in Farah, 32 in Kunar, 29 in Panjshir, 22 in Paktika, 20 in Uruzgan, 12 in Baghlan, 11 in Logar, seven in Khost, five in Badghis and four in Nimroz province.
At least 811 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing the number of total recoveries to 70,016.
A statement from MoPH said 77 people died of the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 4,871.
The global infection tally has reached 182 million, with over 3.9 million losing their lives to the pandemic. (Pajhwok)
