21 Civilians Killed, 33 Wounded During Eid Truce

KABUL - The Ministry of Defense said on Sunday 54 civilians suffered casualties during the three-day ceasefire on Eidul Fitr.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, FawadAman, told Pajhwok Afghan News 21 civilians were killed and 33 others injured in separate blasts and security incidents across the country.
He did not provide further details, but according to Pajhwok, incidents of violence took place in Kandahar, Kunduz, Helmand, Kabul and Parwan provinces during the ceasefire.
FawadAman said the Taliban carried out violent activities in 18 provinces during the Eid ceasefire and violated the truce.
He added that Afghan forces were on defensive posture and they defended themselves when attacked. He said Taliban increased their attacks as the ceasefire ended.
The Taliban told the media that they had not violated the ceasefire and accused government forces of violating it. (Pajhwok)
