Afghanistan Covid-19 Tally  Crosses 62,000 Mark

KABUL - At least 221 new Covid-19 cases and 12 deaths have been recorded in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Sunday.
The ministry said 1,944 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 221, pushing the overall tally to 62,063.
Of the fresh cases, 50 were recorded in Kabul, 43 in Nangarhar, 36 in Kandahar, 22 in Parwan, 20 in Herat, 10 in Nimroz, nine in Logar, five each in Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Panjshir and Urozgan provinces, three in Kunduz, two each in Balkh, Takhar and Baghlan and one each in Zabul and Ghor provinces.
At least 182 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the period, taking the total recoveries to 54,222.
In a statement, MoPH said 12 people died of the virus in the past 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 2,698.
The global infection tally has reached 185 million, with 130 million recovering and over 3.2million losing lives to the infection. (Pajhwok)
