KHOST CITY - Khost City Mayor Eng. Roshan Navid says that he had been forced to resign following pressure from mafia groups and powerful individuals pressure.
He did not named anyone, but added some members of Provincial Council and high ranking government officials had joined hands with mafia and they did not want the provision of standard services to the city.
“My resignation is not approved so far and trying to get my resignation approved and serve my people in other capacity despite elders emphasis that I shall continue as mayor,” he said.
He said currently all affairs of municipality is being run by his surrogate who is appointed by the governor.
Civil Society Activist Faridullah Qurban said leadership of Khost Municipality is faced with uncertain future and demanded the centre to take step in this regard and clear the fate of Khost Municipality.
Qasim, the resident of Khost City, said all municipal affairs are faced with stalemate currently. People are facing trouble and services provided by municipality are stopped. (Pajhwok)
