Afghanistan to  Vaccinate 60% of Its Population: MoPH

KABUL - Afghan Ministry of Public Health on Sunday announced that 60 percent of the country’s population are planned to be vaccinated and immunized against Coronavirus.
The government has announced vaccination for above the age of 18 as Afghanistan is looking at a coming third wave of virus infections.
A total of $113 million was pledged by the World Bank to support Afghanistan with Covid-19 vaccines, and an additional 50$ is has been supported by the Asian Development Bank to vaccinate 20% of the population in the country.
968,000 vaccine jabs were given to 450,000 in Afghanistan and about 150,000 tons of the vaccines were delivered to the country’s security and defense sectors.
China’s ambassador to Kabul, Wang Yu told the media in a press conference on Saturday that his country is planning to donate further 400,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to Afghanistan.
Ministry of Public Health reported Sunday, that out of 2,189 samples, 172 cases have turned positive in the last 24 hours.
At least 395,395 people have so far been tested in the governmental labs, and there still are 3,934 known active cases in the country.
According to the ministry, within 24 hours, 97 individuals have Recovered from COVID-19, and 10 individuals are reported dead.
The total number of cases in Afghanistan is 59,015, Total deaths are 2,592 and the total recoveries are recorded 52,489.
COVID-19 global toll has increased to 146,501,437and the dead are reported to more than 3,100,590according to Johns Hopkins’ global dashboard. (Khaama Press)
