The statement also added that the village of Tabin was cleared of the Taliban influence in Arghandab district, and ANA also reconstructed three sections of a demolished bridge by the Taliban.
The defense operations in the region resulted in the discovery and neutralization of 76 landmines planted by the Taliban.
This comes as local officials in Kandahar said that the Arghandab district has been retaken from the Taliban.
The group had wider influence and control of the region in the previous months, and mines were planted along roads connected to the district which delayed the return of the displaced people to their homes.
Despite peace efforts war in Afghanistan has raged and violence intensified between the government troops and the extremist groups. (Khaama Press)
