Violence Sabotaging Peace Opportunity: Ghani

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday condemned the attack on university professors in northern Baghlan province, calling it a crime against humanity.
“The continuation of violence in the country is sabotaging the opportunity for peace,” the president said in a statement.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a vehicle carrying Agriculture Faculty teachers in the Khalazi area of Dand-i-Shahab at around 9:00am.
“This attack follows a series of attacks the terrorists staged yesterday evening in Dahan-i-Bagh area of Kabul, in Pul-i-Khumri and on the guards of the Herat Pashdan dam which resulted in martyring and wounding a number of people,” a statement from the Presidential Palace quoted Ghani as saying.
He called the attacks on civil servants, public workers and professors a crime against humanity and Islamic values, saying there was no justification for such attacks. (Pajhwok)
