HCNR  Leadership  Committee Discusses US Proposal

KABUL - The High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR)’s leadership committee on Sunday held its fourth meeting and discussed the US proposal for the Afghan peace and regional and international conferences in this regard.
A statement from HCNR received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that the meeting was chaired by the council’s chairman, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and attended by members of the leadership committee, vice presidents, government officials and a number of the government’s negotiating team members in Abdullah’s office.
The meeting was also attended by former president, Hamid Karzai, Jihadi leader Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf, former vice president, Younus Qanoni, head of Hizb-i-Jamiat Islami, Atta Mohammad Noor and a number of other political figures and parliament members.
Addressing the meeting, Abdullah said, “We will have a clear stance about the US proposal and regional and international meetings on Afghan peace in the near future.”
“We do not fear proposals, but the stance and demand of the Afghan people and the Afghan government should be clear”, he added.
Around two weeks back, the US special representative for the Afghan reconciliation process, Zalmai Khalilzad shared a participatory government proposal with the Taliban and Afghan government for finding a political settlement to the conflict.
HCNR in its statement said that the meeting also discussed the proposal offered by the US government and meetings held on Afghan peace process on regional and international levels.

The participants emphasized the need for peace in Afghanistan and said that they support any steps that ensure peace in Afghanistan, the statement added. (Pajhwok)
