Ghani: Pakistan Must End  Undeclared War in Afghanistan

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Monday once again called on Pakistan to end the undeclared war in Afghanistan and accept an independent and democratic Afghanistan.
A statement from the Presidential Palace to Pajhwok Afghan News said President Ashraf Ghani addressed the closing ceremony of the Regional Conference on Peace and Stability.
The event at the Presidential Palace was attended by a number of Awami National Party (ANP) and Pashtun Salvation Movement leaders and women from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
The conference discussed how to end the war on both sides of the Durand Line and allow peoples to live in peace and stability.
Awami National Party (ANP) member Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, referring to the war on both sides of the Durand Line, said the war had no Islamic or religious basis. He said the war was only against progress, prosperity and well-being of Afghans.
President Ghani praised the efforts and sacrifices of the Pashtun leaders and the Pashtun Salvation Movement for peace and stability, and said that the Government of Afghanistan was committed to ending the current crisis.
He said Pakistan must end this undeclared war and accept a free, independent and democratic Afghanistan/
President Ashraf Ghani emphasized the need to increase trade to bring about a fundamental change in lives of peoples on both sides of the Durand Line.
He directed the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs to start efforts for reconstruction of the tomb of the famous Pashtun philosophical poet Ghani Khan.
At the end of the meeting, a resolution of the Regional Conference on Peace and Stability was read out.
The resolution called for increased trade along the Durand Line and Afghan peace and protection of the Constitution, the rights of women and minorities, and the achievements of the past two decades. (Pajhwok)
