COVID-19: 283 New Cases,  16 Deaths Reported in Afghanistan

KABUL - The Ministry of Public Health on Monday reported 283 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,300 samples tested in the last 24 hours.   
The Public Health Ministry also reported 16 deaths and 57 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.   
The new cases were reported in Kabul (35), Herat (34), Kandahar (30), Balkh (33), Nangarhar (24), Takhar (9), Paktia (14), Kunduz (6), Baghlan (8), Parwan (8), Daikundi (2), Nimruz (11), Ghazni (24), Helmand (4), Laghman (1), Panjshir (2), Farah (13), Zabul (10), Paktika (11) and Uruzgan (4) provinces. 
The deaths were reported in Badakhshan (8), Herat (5), Kabul (2) and Zabul (1) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.   
The data by the ministry shows that the cumulative number of total cases is now 46,498, the number of total reported deaths is 1,779, and the total number of recoveries is 36,788.   
So far, 149,100 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 7,931 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.   
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,460,049 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 62,746,222, according to Johns Hopkins University. (TOLO NEWS)
