KANDAHAR - Militants have destroyed roads, bridges and culverts worth two billion afghanis in bombings, 1TV has found.
Most of the roads, bridges and culverts have been built with funding from the Afghan government, Asian Development Bank and provincial communities.
According to Public Works Ministry, most of the bridges and culverts were destroyed over the past 15 years were in Kandahar, Maidan Wardak and Uruzgan.
Maidan Wardak saw 114 culverts destroyed, Kandahar (121), Uruzgan (41), Laghman (35), Ghazni (27), Logar and Paktika (48), Baghlan (21).
In Paktia, Balkh, Farah, Sar-i-Pul, Zabul, Ghor, Kabul, Kapisa, Kunduz, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Herat and Helmand, each saw up to 21 culverts destroyed.
Sar-i-Pul saw greater destruction of roads.
1TV found that a total of 43 kilometers of road were destroyed in Uruzgan province and 15 kilometers in Kandahar province.
The level of road destruction is also high in Maidan Wardak, Ghazni and Kabul-Kandahar highway.
Destruction of roads, bridges and culverts has happened mostly in insecure areas.
Most of the destroyed bridges and culverts have not been rebuilt yet. (1TV News)
