Afghans Need World’s Help More Than Ever: Raz

KABUL - As intra-Afghan talks loom, Afghanistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations has said her country needs international community’s support more than ever.
The intra-Afghan talks, which were originally scheduled to begin in March, are expected to start in Doha, Qatar, this month.
The direct talks between a government-mandated negotiating team and the Taliban leaders will follow the release of prisoners from both sides.
The Afghan government on Thursday announced completing the prisoner swap process after releasing all, except seven, Taliban prisoners.
Afghanistan permanent representative to the UN, Adela Raz, told the UNSC that the start of the intra-Afghan talks was crucial phase in Afghanistan’s history.
She said as the peace talks were inching closer, Afghanistan needed the international community’s support more than ever before. (Pajhwok)
