Recent Presidential Appointments Cause Outcry

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has conferred the Mir Masjidi Khan Medal on the outgoing European Union ambassador to Afghanistan.
Pierre Mayaudon received the award at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace on Sunday, according to a statement from Ghani’s office.
Mayaudon assured the Afghan president and the people of continued EU support for a democratic, sovereign and independent Afghanistan.
Ghani said: “This medal is awarded to Mr. Pierre for his commitment to upholding meaningful ties between the EU and Afghanistan, deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and support for Afghanistan’s stability, democracy and development.”
Ghani also stressed the importance of the Afghan-EU strategic partnership based on safeguarding a free, open and inclusive society where the rights of its citizens, women and children were protected. (Pajhwok)
