Acting Minister Replacing Officials with Relatives, Allege MPs

KABUL - A number of Wolesi Jirga members on Monday reiterated their call for introduction of ministers-designates to the lower house for a trust vote, accusing some acting ministers of firing and replacing employees with their kin.
Nazeefa Zaki, a lawmaker from Kabul province, said: “Now as the political agreement is reached, why ministers-designate are not referred to the Wolesi Jirga for a trust vote. Most of the acting officials have started removing employees and replacing them with their relatives.”
In line with the political agreement, the High National Reconciliation Council (HNRC) Head Dr. Abdullah would refer some ministers-designate to the president, but Presidential Spokesperson Sediq Sediqi said that Abdullah was yet to provide his list of nominees.
Haji Hashim Faryabi, a lawmaker from Faryab province, said: “If the Cabinet is not completed, officials minister would continue to serve and do whatever they want during the Wolesi Jirga summer recess.”
He added government employees were worried over leadership of acting officials and were being dismissed by their bosses illogically.
A number of other lawmakers held similar views.
Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani said: “Lawmakers often call for the introduction of ministers-designate, but unfortunately despite pledges, the nominees are yet to be introduced to the house for trust vote.”
Rahmani again asked the president to introduce ministers designate to the Wolesi Jirga for trust vote before summer recess. (Pajhwok)
