India Signs MoUs Worth $2.6 Million for Construction Projects in Afghanistan

KABUL - India signed five memorandums of understanding worth $2.6 million for constructions projects in Afghanistan education sector on Sunday.
The projects include building three schools in Badakhshan and Nuristan provinces, a teaching building in Farah University, and building internal roads for Alberoni University in Kapisa province, Afghan Economy Minister Mustafa Mastoor said at signing ceremony.
Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar said that the MoUs underscore India’s “consistent” commitment for the development of the capacity of Afghan youth.
India has committed an assistance of nearly three billion US dollars to Afghanistan over the last two decades, he said.
The envoy said that India has completed nearly 400 small development projects and high-impact community development projects in Afghanistan in the last 15 years.
He said that India remains committed to continue development cooperation with Afghanistan, saying more agreements will be signed in coming weeks.
On peace, the diplomat said that India will continue to support an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled peace process, which he hoped brings “genuine and sustainable” peace.
He hoped that Afghanistan is “completely at peace, free of terrorism emanating from outside its borders.” (1TV NEWS)
