KABUL - The members of parliament who tested positive, according to the source, didn’t attend the House and that the meetings have been postponed.
Scores of the MPs have caught the COVID-19 virus, having themselves quarantined at home, the source added.
Mawlawi Abdullah Qarloq, a member of the Afghan Senate (Meshrano Jirga) spoke to media, saying at least eight members of the Senate have caught the novel coronavirus and were self-quarantined.
Likewise, Mirza Mohammad Katazi, the First Deputy Speaker of National Assembly, Afghan Parliament, has also confirmed to media that 15 of the House have been infected by the COVID-19 virus.
According to the Afghan health ministry, as of Saturday (July 5), at least 32,672 people have tested positive for the coronavirus since the outbreak while the number of related deaths has hit 826. (TKG)
