3-Way Meeting  Agree to Promote Regional Trade, Connectivity

KABUL - Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have agreed to create a joint working committee for promoting transit, trade and transportation between the three nations, a statement from Presidential Palace said on Thursday.
A video meeting between the leaders of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was organized on the initiative of President Ghani on Wednesday, the statement said.
Referring to the suggestion of President Ilham Aliyev regarding the creation of a joint working committed, Ghani said that this committee would be comprised of transport ministers of the three nations and will work for the promotion of regional connectivity, railway line, fiber optic and transport and share their quarterly report with the leadership the three countries.
Ghani said that Afghanistan was ready to work jointly with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and private sector for joint work. He urged the businessmen of the two countries should invest in marble, agriculture and other areas adding that Afghan government was planning to cultivate 1.4 million hectares of land.
The president also asked the leaders of the two nations to support Afghan businessmen.
Ghani referred to massive natural reserves of iron in Afghanistan and encouraged Turkmen and Azerbaijan investors to get full advantage of this opportunity. (Pajhwok)
