Homes of 2 Journalists Searched Against Law: AJSC

KABUL - The Afghanistan Journalist Safety Committee (AJSC) on Thursday termed searching homes of two journalists by intelligence operatives in southeastern Khost province as unlawful and urged the spy agency to investigate the issue seriously.
A statement from AJSC received by Pajhwok Afghan News said the National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel searched homes of Saifullah Hayat and his brother Farooq Jan Mangal without any order from the court and without female personnel in Khost province on Wednesday afternoon.
The statement quoted Hayat as saying, “The NDS personnel in plain clothes and military uniform checked their homes without legal permission in this regard. The raid was against all laws and principles.”
He said the NDS personnel took away his brother Farooq and arrested him for two hours, saying the NDS personnel later called the issue as a misunderstanding and apologized.
The AJSC termed such act from NDS personnel as against constitution and called it a crime. (Pajhwok)
