Afghan Embassy in Australia Urges for Impartial Investigation on Allegations of War Crimes in Afghanistan

KABUL – Afghan Embassy in Australia asked for impartial investigation on allegations of war crimes in Afghanistan.
The embassy of Afghanistan in Australia has expressed deep sadness by the reports of serious allegations of war crimes in a documentary released by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television on March 16, 2020.
The embassy in a statement urged for a complete, impartial and timely investigation of these allegations and trusts the Australian Judicial system in this regard.
"While in close contact with the Australian government, the embassy is constantly monitoring the latest developments on these allegations and will update Afghan community members in Australia and authorities in the national headquarters accordingly," the statement added.
The documentary is about Australian Special Forces soldiers committed executions of Afghans in a video footage obtained by Four Corners and broadcast on Monday night.
The Four Corners footage showed an Afghan man named Dad Mohammad being shot and killed at close range by an Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) soldier in the Uruzgan province of Afghanistan.
The ABC, however, reported that the Australian Army soldier seen shooting at Dad Mohammad has been suspended from duty. (TKG)
