ISLAMABAD - There are reports that the Pakistani government has made new crackdowns against several political activists who were demanding the release of Manzoor Pashteen, the leader of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM).
The response of the Pakistani government to the PTM activists has drawn criticism from some of Pakistan’s powerful political parties, including The Pakistan Peoples Party, and the party's leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
“Political arrests have started again. Manzoor Pashteen, a member of the parliament, and several youths who were participating in peaceful protests, were detained and accused of treason. the Pakistan People's Party strongly condemns these arrests,” said Zardari.
Before this, PTM announced it will hold its next rally in Quetta on February 2 to observe the anniversary of Arman Lonri's death.
