Ahmadzai, Wardak Officials Discuss Security Transition

MAIDAN SHAHR - The Security Transition Commission chairman on Wednesday discussed the second phase of the switch with officials and influential figures in central Maidan Wardak province.
Foreigners could not maintain Afghanistan's security and there would be no improvement in the situation as long as Afghans themselves did not take the responsibility, Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai told a gathering in Maidan Shahr.

Governor Mohammad Aleem Fidayee, provincial council head, Hazrat Mohammad Janan, tribal elders, representatives of civil societies and youth participated in the gathering, the governor's spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Participants assured Ahmadzai of full cooperation with his efforts at making the transition process a success, Shahid said, adding the commission head was also informed of residents' problems.

The first phase of the transition process that started from central Bamyan province on July 17 has been completed in Panjsher, Kabul, excluding Sarobi district, Mehtarlam, Lashkargah, Herat City and Mazar-i-Sharif.
