Kabul-Taliban Talks to Begin Soon, Hopes Karzai

KABUL - Peace negotiations between the Taliban and the Afghanistan government would begin soon, hopes former president Hamid Karzai.
The Taliban, who have been holding talks with US peace negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad, have not yet entered direct dialogue with Kabul.
Addressing the Raisina Dialogue participants in India on Tuesday, Karzai said: “I hope the day comes and the Afghan government and the Taliban talk with each other about reaching a peace deal.”
National Security Advisor Dr. Hamdullah Mohib is also attending the three-day event, which got under way yesterday.
The Raisina Dialogue’s inaugural session was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and leaders from different countries. (Pajhwok)
