High Peace Council Fully Marginalized

High Peace Council Fully Marginalized

KABUL – President Ghani in his new decision has handed all government-related peace functions to State Ministry for Peace, after then the High Peace Council will be fully marginalized.
Afghan President on Tuesday in a meeting of State Ministry for Peace issued separate orders to the ministry.
“According to a separate decree by the President, all government-related peace matters are done” through “and in” coordination “with the State Ministry for Peace,” according to a statement by ministry`s press office.
The statement quotes Minister of State for Peace Abdul Salam Rahimi as saying; “Presidential Palace has issued a decree authorizing the State Ministry of Peace to chair the Senior Coordinating Committee on Peace and that the committee should make decision on all peace process consequences,”
The establishment of peace in our country, which is everyone’s hope, belongs to the planning and actions of the State Ministry for Peace, said Rhaimi.
New Presidential decree for the promotion of peace issues comes when previously, the High Peace Council has been created with high expense to promote peace in the country, but has achieved nothing.
The new president’s decision shows that the High Peace Council is virtually sidelined and that its tasks will not be legitimate with the government.
The chairman and members of the High Peace Council have not responded yet. (MEP)
