Ghani Calls for Sweeping  Reforms in Education System

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has slammed the lack of unity and sympathy at schools, stressing reforms in the education system to address demands of the 21st century.
The Presidential Palace said Ghani expressed underlined education reforms at the closing ceremony for the first National Symposium of Education Reform late on Wednesday evening.
Minister of Education Mirwais Balkhi said they were focused on five areas such as education institutes, structure, management, the capability based on curriculum and use of technology.
Ghani said that today was an important day that would be remembered in the country’s history. He called for reforming the education system,
One basic requirements of a free debate was to identify problems, set goals and define a roadmap to move forward. “We should fix the system so as to meet demands of the 21st century.”
He added facilities for schools and education institutes were not equal. However, he hoped the issue would be addressed.
“Schools go a long way in the nation-building enterprise…” Ghani said, urging equal facilities for all schools across the country. (Pajhwok)
